ACF Report, May 2020

The primary Garden plots of the Kingdom is fully planted, already seeing hearty stands of peas, beans, tomatoes, and peppers. Abnormally wet weather has slowed planting, but it in now complete, with the sorghum crop being planted last weekend. The Kingdom is working on procuring a load of straw for mulching the beds to control weeds without the use of herbicides.

The royal chicken flock is doing well! Our four current hens, all in advanced years, still provide two to three eggs per day, and ten new hens arriving in mid-June shall begin producing by late fall, providing welcome sources of protein through the winter.

Opportunities to procure affordable meat sources have been proposed to the Royal Family, and several options are being discussed. The unfortunate situation in the United States is forcing many ranchers to sell of livestock below already deflated market prices. While we plan to take advantage of these new market opportunities, the Kingdom is proud to be offering market driven prices for these animals, some which will be processed at the capital, others by professional butchers.

Improvement of the Kingdom’s lands continues. Once travel is deemed safe, a much-welcomed delegation is set to visit the Dry Hill Territory and begin scouting for opportunities to improve the lands in the coming years for sustainable timber harvests and agroforestry endeavors.

A highly accurate rain gauge, built and sold by COCORAS, has been installed in the capital, and daily moisture readings are being recorded. When sufficient data is available, it will be posted on the ACF website.

Such is the State of Agriculture in Falunnia, this 26 May, 2020.
