ACF Report April 2020

Spring has remained cool, but planting season is upon us. Last week the beds and fields were tilled as needed and prepared to accept their seedlings. This week corn, onions, beets, brussels sprouts and cabbage were planted. The ACF has acquired several new pieces of equipment, including a small manual planter, row covers, trellising supplies, and more. The remainder of crops will be planted next week, weather permitting.

The Kingdom has purchased it’s first livestock! With the order of 10 Rhode Island Red and 25 mixed broilers, a total of 35 chickens will be added to the stocks of the realm. Part of this new addition will include the building of a large chicken yard and coop, as well as the development of a fodder growing system to help with feeding. The ACF is currently in talks with nearby suppliers that can provide regular supplies of wheat, barley, and field pea seed for fodder.

Stocks withing the Kingdom are being taxed more heavily than normal due to higher consumption in quarantine, as well as relief and foreign aid efforts. We are encouraged that a bumper crop this season with replenish stores.

We have been getting a bit of precipitation lately, and plan to soon report on weather patterns within the Kingdom.

Such is the state of Falunnian Agriculture this 24 April, 2020.
